Admissions Process: High School

We are accepting applications for 9th and 10th grades for the 2025-2026 school year. We’re also currently accepting applications for mid-year enrollment in 9th grade. Tessellations actively seeks students and families that share in our school’s vision, mission, and core values, and whom we can confidently serve. Families who are interested in applying to our program should begin the process as early as possible. We maintain a policy of rolling admissions and consider applications as they are received.

Initial Application Steps

All applicants are asked to complete the following initial application steps:

  1. Application Form and Fee
Please fill out the Application Form on Ravenna. Once we receive your Application Form, we will email you instructions to complete the remaining initial application steps. The application fee is $95. Please contact us if this cost is a financial hardship.
  2. Information Forms
We ask a parent/guardian to complete these detailed forms to help us get to know your student in-depth.
  3. Student Video
We ask you to create a short 2-3 minute video to give us a glimpse into you and your world.
  4. Report Cards from 7th Grade (and 8th Grade when available)
We ask for the student’s Report Cards from their 7th and 8th Grade years.
  5. Teacher Recommendations
We ask for three recommendations: one from the student’s current Math or Science teacher, one from the student’s current English or Humanities teacher, and one from the student’s school Principal or Counselor. Our recommendation form will be emailed directly to the educators from our Admissions Team.

Finalists

After the initial admissions steps are complete, Tessellations will invite finalists to proceed in the application process. Finalists are invited to complete some or all of the following steps, depending on the information needed by our Admissions Team. Please note that the order of these steps may vary.

  • Student Questionnaire
We ask the student to answer a questionnaire so we can get to know their interests and personality.
  • Student Chat with our Admissions Team
A member of our Admissions Team will meet with the student by Zoom.
  • On-Campus Day
Students will get a campus tour and spend time with current Tessellations High School students and faculty.
  • Parent/Guardian Interview
This is a dialogue to gauge philosophical fit between families and the school.

Admissions Decisions

When the application process is complete, the Admissions Team will make an admissions decision. A number of criteria will inform the admissions decision; however, no single criterion will determine the final decision.

Upon acceptance, a contract will be sent to the parents/guardians for review and signatures. Families are invited, as part of their decision-making process, to request to meet current families (adults and/or students).

Once accepted, a signed contract and deposit toward annual tuition secure your child’s place in our program. We consider qualified candidates in the order in which they apply.

Non-Discrimination Policy

Tessellations admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation. Tessellations does not discriminate on the basis of these factors in the administration of its educational policies, financial award programs, or any other school-administered programs.

Tuition

Tuition for 9th and 10th Grades for the 2025-2026 school year will be $50,500.

Financial aid is available to qualified families and is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Tessellations generally raises tuition slightly every year (as do most independent schools). We do this primarily to allow our teacher salaries to keep up with cost-of-living expenses. Of note, our staff salaries account for over 65% of our budget every year.

* There will be an additional fee for travel expenses.
