Tessellations Family Voices

Shirley W.
Parent of 7th grader

Like you, I wear many hats. One of my favorite hats is mother of three active, curious, kind and persistent children. When I’m not mothering, I help bring babies into the world and keep women healthy as an Ob/Gyn. As a family, we love to explore the great outdoors and travel.

I am a stay-at-home dad who used to be an engineer and operations manager in high tech. The pandemic helped me to focus on my family more and Tessellations has been a big part of that journey. I’m volunteering with Tessellations in a graphic design capacity.

I have 13-year-old twins in 8th grade, and they’re both thriving since starting at Tessellations. An educator myself, I’m in love with the project-based curriculum! Most of all, I love how the teachers see my kids for who they are, offering support and challenges that meet them where they are.
