Tessellations – The Beneventi School

High School: Studio

Interdisciplinary, Long-term Projects

Tessellations Studio is a core curriculum element in which students work with a faculty advisor on group and individual projects that matter to them and inspire others in their community. In this class, students practice research methods, design thinking, collaboration, and executive functioning.

All projects include planning, prototyping, self-reflection, and peer review enabling students to iterate and refine their work. Students develop their self management and grit while they hone project management skills with timelines, deliverables, and daily agendas. They have an opportunity to learn and use modern tools including CAD, 3D printing, and generative AI. They become proficient and comfortable with public speaking as they share their work with their peers and public audiences.

Sample Projects: Living Architecture, Activist Fashion, Innovative Prosthetics, Historical Figures Podcast, Regenerative Farming Practices
